In most instances, the shutting down of servers won't affect your single-player campaigns, but you may have to play in "offline" mode to get them to work properly. In other instances, you may find yourself unable to pick up any DLC, so if you fancy some additional content but haven't gotten around to buying it yet, be quick; DLC won't be available once the servers go offline. Connection to your Ubisoft account - and any goodies you unlock with it - will also stop, too.
Scene transition and event dialog remain unchanged; Survivors speak their campaign exclusive lines normally as in the original version. An interesting feature of the remake is that it comes with updated talker files for the original Survivors, which in turn have fixed notable issues experienced in-game prior to the campaign's release such as Survivors being silent upon spotting pills, first-aid kits, grenade-type items, among others. Along with this update, Survivors now re-use lines upon being targeted by the Spitter, the Jockey and the Charger as opposed to using their respective pain sounds prior to the update.

The game is played with or against other players or AI-controlled characters in both online or offline modes. In Island Capture, each team starts with up to two headquarters and launches the units. The player must command the unit in battlefield by using command points. Duel mode enables the player to battle against other players in a selected unit class, last team with a remaining unit left wins. In Siege mode, one team must guarded the island with his individual set of units while other team struggle to attack on the island to defeat the first team.
